several magazines and at local museums. But it is this moment in her
career that has solidified her passion: clients in waiting to see what she
produces next. “You wait all of your life for this, truly,” she says of her
collectors who come in the gallery to look over her shoulder while she
paints.
The “Twelve Months of Light” pieces are true masterpieces, taking
months to create the layered, spirited canvases, all considered major
works of art. The vision starts during a three-hour field visit, where Pope
says she becomes one with the ocean and landscape.
While the artist says she is focused on the series, she does indulge
diversion, and has painted several other pieces in the last two years.
Those, along with her other work, is available to view at Portico
Gallery. The Gallery, located in Montecito’s lower village, is host
to twenty-two other artists, who have their high quality, selective
paintings on display.
