Kiley DiRado & Cody Evans
his Santa Barbara-born bride and her groom met in 2007 in Orange
County, California. Cody, who at the time was playing baseball for the Arizona
Diamondbacks, entered spring training shortly after meeting his future bride, so
the couple dated long distance while Kiley brushed up on her baseball knowledge.
Four years later, the day before Thanksgiving, 2011, Cody surprised her with a proposal in
Mammoth, California, where he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him, surrounded
by candles, flowers, and rose petals. Both families, who were in on the surprise, helped them
celebrate the engagement with dinner later that evening.
The bride’s parents were married in 1980 at Montecito’s All Saints by-the-Sea Episcopal
Church, with a reception at the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore. Following in their footsteps,
the young couple knew they wanted a Montecito wedding: they chose to marry at Montecito
Country Club on October 27, 2012.
The duo, with the help of La Fête Weddings, planned a black-tie affair with bright fuchsia
and deep purple accents. Hanging crystals and chandeliers added to the romantic atmosphere,
while Frank Sinatra tunes during cocktail hour added sophistication and class to the adults-only
event. Purple up-lighting, dramatic florals, and silver accents set the stage for the couple, who
danced the night away with their guests.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon on St. Lucia island in the Caribbean, in a suite
overlooking the pristine beaches. Now retired from baseball, the groom and his betrothed have
moved back to Santa Barbara to start their lives together.
