way to propose while in Italy. After arriving in Florence, Jonathan was informed there was no
way the ring would make it through Italian customs before they returned home. Feeling defeated,
Jonathan asked for the ring to be sent back to the United States. The day before heading home,
Jonathan planned a day trip to Venice. While in Piazza San Marco, Tina spotted a beautiful
ceramic ring made in the classic Venetian style. While on a private gondola ride on the Grand
Canal, Jonathan brought out the ring and confessed his undying love and asked Tina to marry
him. Without hesitation, she said yes, and Jonathan explained the ring was just a temporary one,
as the real engagement ring was with Italian customs waiting to be sent back home. Then, Tina
admitted to sneaking a peak in Jonathan’s luggage to look for a ring. “If the ring had made it, the
surprise may have been ruined!” the bride said.
After touring the grounds of the San Ysidro Ranch, the couple knew they wanted to be married
there. With the help of Colette and Kaitlin Lopez from La Fete Weddings, the nuptials, attended by
only family and close friends, were romantic and traditional, with soft pink, ivory, and gold accents.
The wedding featured heart accents, and the couple told their story of securing a heart-shaped lock
onto the famous chain link fence of the
Pont des Arts
in Paris. A heart-shape wax seal was on the
invitations, heart-shaped soaps were given as favors, and rose petals were formed into a heart shape
at the base of the aisle. Jonathan bought Tina a heart-shaped locket as a gift for her to wear on their
wedding day. The locket contained the couple’s picture.
The wedding ceremony took place on the lower lawn, with cocktails on the upper lawn, and
dinner at the Hydrangea Cottage. The rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch were also held at the
Ranch, in the wine cellar and garden patio.
