orn and raised in Santa Barbara, Shauna Newell knew she
wanted to be married here surrounded by family and friends.
She met her husband-to-be David Taeb through friends when
both lived in Colorado. Ten months into their courtship, David
asked Shauna to move in with him. She apprehensively agreed, hoping to be
engaged before moving in together.

own place settings at the head of each of the tables, so they could split
their time evenly among their guests.
Chef Don of the Four Seasons designed the cake, which sat atop
a custom, 24-carat gold leafed cake stand, designed by Magnolia Event
Design. The party went into the night, and the bride surprised her groom
and his family with a belly dancer and a hookah lounge at the end of
dinner to help get the party started.
The couple jetted off to Riviera Maya, Mexico after the wedding.
After a long and exhausting day of moving, David called Shauna into the
kitchen, where he had hidden a video camera to record his proposal. He handed
her a small box, which she did not recognize as a moving box. Thinking it was a
housewarming gift, she opened it to find a platinum, cushion-cut diamond ring,
as David bent to one knee and asked her to marry him.
The bride, who attended local schools, and the groom, who was born in
Manhattan, planned a small, intimate wedding at the Four Seasons Resort The
Biltmore in Montecito, which took place on September 13, 2013. The theme was
vintage romance. The bride carried a bouquet of blush-toned roses, lisianthus,
dahlias, and accent flowers, while her bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the
bridal bouquet.
The couple’s 54 guests entered the reception room following cocktails. The
room was lit in blush-tone lighting, showcasing two long feasting tables set with
vintage china, silk napkins, and rose-colored champagne flutes. Lace-trimmed
menus, custom designed by Lazaro Press, were set atop the place settings. Two
tall centerpieces filled with flowers sat in the middle of each table, accented with
