Gibbings Jewellery finds his inspiration
in the ancient world: Greek, Roman,
Etruscan, and Byzantine.
Before becoming a jeweler, Gibbings was
a leather crafter. “I always liked working

with my hands,” he explains. He has
been making jewellery (he prefers this
spelling), however, for more than twenty-
five years now and is, coincidentally, the
other
jeweler in Montecito who designs, fabricates,
and produces his own unique pieces. His workshop is on the
premises at 1143 Coast Village Road, open and exposed to customers
in a setup similar to the timeworn image of a cobbler’s shop where one
could purchase a handsome pair of riding boots in front or simply have a heel
