Kristy Warnen
& Mark Lieblein
his Minnesota couple had never been to Santa Barbara
before planning their destination wedding at the San Ysidro
Ranch. They knew they wanted a domestic locale where most of
their 28 wedding guests had never been, and picked Montecito on a whim.
“We fell in love with Santa Barbara, the Ranch, and our wedding planner!” the
bride gushes. They now consider our oceanside enclave their second home.
Kristy Warnen and Edward “Mark” Lieblein were married on May 12,
2012, in a romantic garden ceremony. The couple, who met in 2001, were
engaged in 2010 on Christmas morning, as Mark surprised Kristy with a set of
wedding-themed martini glasses. Sitting in one of the glasses was a platinum-
set, princess cut solitaire ring, and Mark kneeled to ask for
Kristy’s hand in marriage.
The bride’s vision of a “romantic blush” wedding was
realized with fluffy pink peonies, white lounge furniture with
pink sequined pillows, and crystal chandeliers and bud vases
hanging from the Ranch’s trees. Wedding guests were treated to
strawberry lemonade served in glass bottles with pink and white
paper straws, welcoming them to the venue, where they mingled
around the grounds before the ceremony.
Katy, the bride’s sister, was her only attendant. Mark had his
two best friends, Peter and Fritz, stand by his side. Allie Grace,
the bride’s niece, was the flower girl, and the only child to attend
the elegant affair.
Guests enjoyed the sounds of Spanish guitar while sipping
cocktails, and later, the Ranch’s team prepared a five-course
meal, with ingredients picked from the hotel’s garden.
The couple pampered their friends and family with a
weekend chock-full of Santa Barbara activities before heading
to Cabo San Lucas to stay at another Ty Warner-owned resort:
Las Ventanas. “We lived on cloud nine for eight days!” the
couple says.
