“I
have the Wyoming lifestyle in Summerland,” says Emily Rosendahl, who lives perched atop a 20-acre ranch overlooking Summerland, the Montecito
hills, and Carpinteria coastline. It is from this vantage point, with her “85-pound love of my life shepherd mutt, Milo” by her side, that she designs
and handcrafts her line of leather handbags. “I am creating a brand and branding myself the way I want to do it, on my terms, under my ethics, and
my umbrella of lifestyle and culture,” says Emily of her company, Emily Rosendahl Leather Goods.
Emily grew up in Portland, Oregon until she was twelve years old. Her family then moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with the intention of skiing and
opening a brewpub. “We went out to try it for a year and never went back,” she says, noting her mother Joni and stepfather Albert renovated an old Coca Cola
factory in 1991, turning it into the award winning Snake River Brewing Company, ultimately selling it in 2007.
