The Rack & Treasure House
T
he Rack and Treasure House are located on the Music Academy of the
West’s Miraflores Campus in Montecito. While it’s widely known that
the Academy welcomes 140 young, gifted classical musicians each summer from
around the world to study under internationally renowned artists, conductors
and soloists, the two resale shops on campus are often overlooked. Opened by
Women’s Auxiliary member Roz Terry in 1979, The Rack offers a wide variety
of designer vintage clothing, jewelry, shoes, handbags, and men’s clothing. The
Treasure House, started by Estelle Ritter in 1986, lives up to its name; inventory
changes often, and unique treasures can often be found. From antique silver to
housewares, to rare sets of china and crystal, Treasure House is a showcase of
artifacts from travels and adventures. Both shops are stocked by community
donations, and staffed by Women’s Auxiliary members.
