fter 45 years in the trade, David Tallman has
expressed a passion for jewelry with a history
and a reflection of marine life. From his pieces,
collectors can survey his signature style in which he adorns
and carves mammoth ivory.
3) Such an example is shown in the ivory shell with
hermit crab. An actual shell was provided only as a model
for Tallman to carve a replica from mammoth ivory.
Tallman dressed the finished product with three
crabs made of yellow gold, sea kelp made of green
gold, and a school of anchovies made of red gold.
Rubies were also added on the backs of two crabs.
1) The 18k gold trout ring is also a tribute
to Tallman’s passion for aquatic life. The ring was
designed as a wedding band for a passionate fisherman.
4) The stem of the flower is made of green gold, while the yellow
gold petals cradle a bevy of chocolate diamonds.
2) Attached to a 20k gold and jade heishi necklace is
the lavish Polynesian Boar’s tusk pendant embedded with
18k yellow gold, emeralds and diamonds on the stem, and green
tourmaline in the center of the lid.
David Tallman’s work can be seen at Trésor Studio in Montecito’s
upper village at 1470 East Valley Road, a few stores up from the post office;
he can also be reached directly at 805-969-9335
