Dana Musgrove
& Michael Costello
fter meeting on a double date set up by the bride’s
best friend, Dana Musgrove and Michael Costello dated
over three years before tying the knot at a private estate in
Montecito on June 30, 2012. With her dad, famed Montecito sign maker
Paul Musgrove, and her mother, Santa Barbara wedding photographer
Melissa Musgrove, by her side, this locally grown girl knew Montecito would
be the ideal location to marry her love.
Michael decided to propose during a road trip from Cape Cod to New
York City, and insisted on going to the beach even though it was horribly
windy, rainy and cold. His plan was to walk with Dana to a lighthouse
down the beach, but after realizing how deceptively far the destination was,
he settled on a spot on the beach, got down on one knee, and asked for her
hand. “Even though the conditions were horrible, he made it perfect,” she
says. The groom had even braved a recent hurricane to fly to California to
ask for Dana’s father’s blessing.

“I just knew I wanted purple and sparkly!” said the bride, an
actress who now lives in New York City, about the nuptials. She
enlisted the help of her mom, as well as La Fete event planner Colette Lopez, to
plan the intimate event.
The invitations requested that guests “sparkle” at this glamorous wedding.
The sixty-five guests held parasols as they watched the couple say their vows
overlooking Montecito’s foothills; the bride’s Matron of Honor was her best friend,
Claire, while Mike’s best man was his brother, Tom.
Purple lights and beaded curtains hanging from a trellis added glitz to the
outdoor reception, and the tables were decorated with mercury glass, jeweled
votives, and rhinestone-embellished vases overflowing with purple and green
hydrangea. The wedding cake was displayed hanging from a tree on a flower-
covered swing. “It was the nicest wedding I’ve ever seen!” says the bride.
The bride, who changed into a shorter dress at the end of the night, and her
groom danced the night away with their closest family and friends, before jetting
off to Kauai and Maui to honeymoon.
