danced with family and friends in the Biltmore’s El Mar room. Guests
were given chocolate truffles as favors, through Truffles for a Cause, a
company that donates 50 percent of profits to a charity chosen by the
bride and groom.
Meika and Colin, a preschool teacher and office manager at El
Montecito Early School and a legal consultant at LECG respectively,
honeymooned in the Maldives.

Giovanna and Schuyler
Du Bourdieu
After meeting in Fortaleza, Brazil, on a chiropractic mission in 1999,
these two doctors say they knew immediately that they would spend the
rest of their lives together.
Giovanna Bonasoro and Schuyler Du Bourdieu
were married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church
on East Valley Road earlier this year. After years of
dating long distance – she lived in Santa Barbara
and he in San Diego – Schuyler proposed in Naples,
California during a romantic gondola ride the day
after Christmas 2008. Told by the gondolier it was
good luck to kiss while drifting under each bridge, the
couple obliged, and under the third bridge Schuyler
dropped to one knee and asked Giovanna for her hand
in marriage. Italian music played in the background,
as white Christmas lights twinkled along the canal.
Keeping with the Italian theme, the couple hosted
a “big fat” wedding that lasted all day and night. The
ceremony was held in the morning, then guests were
invited to a panino luncheon at the couple’s home in
Santa Barbara while Giovanna and Schuyler enjoyed
