SILVERHORN
T
o wear a Silverhorn gem is to wear a piece of the world. Co-owners Mike and Carole Ridding travel
above and beyond to capture their finds. The cabochon ring and earrings (3) are of Nigerian origin.
Carole notes that the cushion-cut spessartite stone “is a rare orange garnet.” The ring compliments
its rarity as a 23.57carat gem, set in rose gold with a satin finish.
Perhaps the most eye appealing are the fire opal beads with wood bracelets (2). Carole beams that the opal
beads are “extraordinarily significant,” in that they were found in a new mine in Ethiopia. 18k gold spacers
compliment each bead. Guatemala supplied the dark mora
(top) and orange osage wood for the bracelets. “We love the contrast of the
[yellow] gold against the grain of the hardwoods,” boasts Carole. The center
stone is opal.
Move from enthusiasm to delicacy with the handmade white jade
earrings (1). Rubellite tourmaline, from Nigeria, hold antique white jade,
carved in China.
